Description

MCRC’s Transitional Housing Program is a multi-faceted plan of action to assist homeless families with a stable, healthy and supportive environment in which change and independence can be accomplished and maintained on their journey back to independent living.


HOMELESS DEFINITION

MCRC Transitional Housing program is for individuals and families who are homeless; a homeless person / family is someone who was living on the street or in an emergency shelter prior to entering a short term institution or a transitional housing project according to HUD.

purpose

To empower homeless families by providing time and support necessary to get them back on their feet and into a permanent housing arrangement.


qualifications

Family Criteria: A maximum of two parents and four children or a minimum of one adult and two children. Families must have one or more children defined as school age and under. All school aged children must be enrolled and attend school.

Employment: Participants must be employed to be accepted and remain in the program.

Mandatory Participation: Supportive services, life skills training, budget counseling, financial literacy, goal setting, etc.

Utilities: Participants must be able to get utilities turned on in their own name and demonstrate on time payments each month.


Program Qualifications:

Case Managers use strength based case management techniques to optimize outcomes covering life skills coaching, employment and educational support, along with budgeting and money management.
